Assateague Island is located on a barrier island bordered by the Atlantic Ocean on the east and the Sinepuxent Bay. Assateague State Park is Maryland’s only oceanfront park and is home to wild ponies, 2 miles of secluded beaches, camp sites, bike trails, and more.
